Ammonium Chloride 99.5%
AMMONIUM CHLORIDE 99.5% available in 150g, 250g, 500g, 1500g, 3000g.
Molecular Formula: NH4Cl
Ammonium chloride is an inorganic compound in the form of white crystalline soybeans, well soluble in water. Ammonium chloride solutions are slightly acidic.
Sal ammoniac is the name of the natural, mineralogical form of ammonium chloride. It is commonly formed as a result of the condensation of coal gases on burnt coal heaps.
It is mainly used as a fertilizer and flavouring in some types of liquorice. It is a reaction product of hydrochloric acid and ammonia.
USES:
- Metal processing
Ammonium chloride is used as a flux in the preparation of metals for tin-plating, electroplating or soldering and for cleaning the soldering tip.
- Medicine
Ammonium chloride is used as an expectorant in the treatment of cough. It is irritating to the bronchial mucosa, which presumably facilitates expectoration. Ammonium salts are also irritating to the gastric mucosa and may cause nausea and vomiting.
- In the lab
Ammonium chloride has been used to produce low temperatures in cooling baths. Ammonium chloride ammonia solutions are used as buffer solutions including ACK (Ammonium-Chloride-Potassium) lysis buffer.
And many others.
