BORIC ACID also known as hydrogen borate, boracic acid, orthoboric acid and acidum boricum. Most commonly used as an antiseptic, insecticide, flame retardant, neutron absorber and precursor to other chemicals. It comes in the form of colourless crystals or a white powder that dissolves in water. It also occurs in combination with other minerals such as borax and boracite. In its mineral state, it is known as sassolit.
