Propylene glycol is a viscous, colorless liquid, which is nearly odorless but possesses a faintly sweet taste. Containing two alcohol groups, it is classed as a diol. It is miscible with a broad range of solvents, including water, acetone, and chloroform. Glycols are non-irritating and have very low volatility.
Pure USP/EP 99.8% Pharmaceutical Grade PG. The purest form of PG available. Suitable for all pharmaceutical and food applications as well as being kosher certified.

USES:

- As a chemical feedstock for the production of unsaturated polyester resins;

- In waterbased acrylic architectural paints to extend dry time which it accomplishes by preventing the surface from drying due to its slower evaporation rate compared to water;

- In alcohol-based hand sanitizers, it is used as a humectant to prevent the skin from drying;

- Propylene glycol is also used in various edible items;

- As a solvent in many pharmaceuticals, including oral, injectable and topical formulations;

- In electronic cigarettes, as a vaporizable base for diluting the nicotine liquid;

- As a solvent for many substances, both natural and synthetic;

- As a humectant (E1520);

- As a solvent for food colours and flavourings;

- As a cooling agent for beer and wine glycol jacketed fermentation tanks;

- As a less-toxic antifreeze in solar water heating systems;

- As a solvent used in mixing photographic chemicals, such as film developers In cryonics;

- To de-ice aircraft;

- As a freezing point depressant for slurry ice;

- In veterinary medicine as an oral treatment for hyperketonaemia in ruminants;

- For trapping and preserving insects (including as a DNA preservative);

- For the creation of theatrical smoke and fog;

- As an additive in PCR to reduce the melting temperature of nucleic acids for targeting of GC rich sequences;

- As an ingredient in UV or black light tattoo ink;

- As a lubricant in air conditioning compressors;

- In the manufacture of lava lamps.
