Stainless steel powders are used in stainless steel flakes as well as in the production of paint additives and chemical filtration.

Steels containing more than about 10% Cr are referred to as stainless materials. Depending on the amount of Cr and other alloying elements such as Ni and Mo, properties such as mechanical strength and corrosion resistance are determined.

Regulation requires this label to detail the safety information as a mixture of the separate metals that comprise Stainless Steel 316. It is widly regarded that this does not reflect the properties of the alloy.
