Titanium dioxide exists in the form of the minerals rutile, anatase and broccoli. rhodochrosite. It accounts for 70% of the total production of pigments worldwide. It is widely used to whiten and add opacity to products such as paints, plastics, papers and inks.
It has many uses such as:
* As whitening and opacifying agent
* A thin film of TiO2 is used to produce reflective optical coatings for dielectric mirrors and some gemstones
* Applied to sports pitches, tennis courts etc to produce the white lines
